Shout to the Lord on American Idol
Was anyone else as surprised, moved, choked up, encouraged, and in awe as I was when I heard the American Idol contestants singing "Shout to the Lord" on the show tonight - the name Jesus and all?
I know they sang it last night as part of their Idol Gives Back show, and they apparently sang "My Shepherd" instead of "My Jesus." (We didn't get to see it). Tonight they sang it again though, and they sang Jesus this time.
It was a crazy moment that I almost couldn't believe was really happening. It was similar to when you see someone you know on TV. I didn't know whether to be skeptical and cynical or completely in awe because Jesus was being openly praised on one of the most popular shows on television. I felt like Jesus was on the stage for all to see.
I am curious as to what others thought??

Whatever the outcome. Jesus was praised and someone...someone's heart was touched! I know it. Praise the Lord!

I didn't see either episode (and I was NOT happy about who got booted off when I found out!), but I saw the video of the second night's performance on this blog:

It was awesome! I've wondered if the three who sang the opening part of "My Jesus" are believers.
The night Dolly Parton was on, well, the two nights, it seems that several songs had "Jesus" in them and then that band sang a version of "This Little Light of Mine." Lauren was starting to think that it was a Christian show. LOL She kept saying, "Do these people know God?"
